Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my child needs therapy?

Children can benefit from therapy for many reasons—struggling with emotions, behavior, relationships, school, or coping with a major change or stress. Signs that therapy might help include persistent sadness or anxiety, frequent anger or irritability, changes in sleep or appetite, withdrawal from friends or activities, or difficulty managing daily routines. If you notice these patterns or feel something isn’t quite right, a consultation can help determine whether therapy could support your child.

Are you currently seeing clients for in-person sessions?

At the moment, I am seeing clients online via teletherapy only.

How do I make an appointment?

You can email me at jen.c.wolff@gmail.com to schedule a free phone consult. If we determine that I can help you, we will schedule our first appointment. Otherwise, I will provide you with referral sources for other providers.

What is a Family Social Media Contract Consultation?

A Family Social Media Contract Consultation is a session where I work with parents and children to create clear, realistic guidelines for social media use at home. Together, we discuss expectations, safety, screen time, and healthy online behavior, and then develop a written agreement that reflects your family’s values and goals. The consultation helps families set boundaries, improve communication, and reduce conflict around technology while keeping kids safe online.

What can I expect during my first appointment?

In our first session, I’ll meet with you and your child together, then spend some time one-on-one with your child. We’ll go over what therapy involves and answer any questions so everyone feels comfortable. I’ll ask about thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to understand what brought you here and what you hope to achieve. This session is also a chance to see if we’re a good fit—trust and comfort grow over time, and you and your child are always welcome to share questions or concerns along the way.

How long are therapy sessions?

Therapy sessions are approximately 45 minutes. The initial intake session is 90 minutes.

Is what I share with you during therapy confidential?

Yes. Therapy works best when everyone feels safe to speak honestly. What you and your child share in sessions is private and protected by law, as well as by professional ethical standards. There are a few exceptions, like if someone is at risk of serious harm or if there’s abuse or neglect. At your first session, we’ll go over confidentiality in detail and you can ask any questions about privacy.
